Poland: Employee Benefits Update

September 8, 2016:

The following changes in employee benefits have been reported back by Asinta’s partner in Poland, MAI CEE:

Legal/Legislative Changes:

A new Act on Insurance and Reinsurance Activity went in to force on October 1st, 2015. The main purpose of this act was to implement Directive 2009/138/EC of the European Parliament and of the council of November 25, 2009 on the taking-up and the pursuit of the business of insurance and reinsurance – Solvency II into the Polish legal system. The Act introduces a number of pro-consumer provisions.

Market Trends:

Employers are continuing to make agreements with private clinics to provide medical treatment to their employees and/or continuing to purchase private medical insurance for their employees. This allows companies to provide better medical care options to their employees than what is currently offered by the Polish public healthcare system.
