USA: Pet Insurance on the Rise Amongst Millennials

According to Asinta Partner in the United States, Alliant, pet insurance is becoming a more popular benefit offered to employees, particularly of the millennial generation.

Millennials are considered to be anyone born between 1980 and 2000. This generation are more willing to sacrifice high-paying jobs for ones that offer an exciting environment, flexible hours and tailored benefits.

While millennials are less likely to own a home, get married or raise a family, they are more likely to own a pet; 75% of Americans in their thirties own dogs with the average millennial getting their first pet at age 21.

With so many millennials owning pets, it’s no wonder that pet insurance is becoming a popular benefit to offer. After all, unforseen pet illnesses and injuries can have a major effect on an employee’s financial situation.
