Canada: November 2016 Legislative Update

The Williamson Group – A Cowan Company, Asinta’s  Partner in Canada, has recently published a summary of legislative updates within Canada for the month of November 2016. These updates include:

• Federal – The federal government has released new legislation that opens the door to establishing target benefit plans for federally-regulated and Crown corporation employers.
• Ontario – Ontario has adopted regulations to make pooled retirement pension plans available to employees in the province.
• Manitoba – The government of Manitoba has introduced legislation to build on federal legislation in setting out rules and procedures for establihing retirement plans.
