United Kingdom: Results of the European Union Referendum

Asinta´s UK Partner Punter Southall has released a two-page explanation on the possible ramifications of the British referendum vote to leave the EU. The European Union referendum in the United Kingdom took place on June 23, 2016. The citizens of the UK surprised the world by voting to withdraw from the EU. This historical vote has set into motion a period of uncertainty in both the UK and Europe. In order to leave the European Union, the government in the UK will need to officially petition to exit the Union. Once they have petitioned to leave, negotiations will need to be carried out between the UK and the European Union to determine the exact terms of the UK’s departure from the EU.
